Bricks Builder vs Page Builders: Why We Switched (And Why You Should Too)
Three years ago, we were deep in Elementor. Massive sites, complex builds, hundreds of custom CSS overrides.
The sites worked. But they were slow. And the code was bloated.
We switched to Bricks Builder in 2024. It was the best technical decision we made that year.
Why Bricks, not Elementor?
Elementor is great for beginners and small builds. But at scale, it creates bloat. Tons of inline CSS, rendering issues on complex pages, and a steep learning curve once you get past the basics.
Bricks is built for developers who also need a visual builder. Not the other way around.
Performance:
Elementor site: 2.8s load time, Lighthouse score 68.
Same site in Bricks: 1.1s load time, Lighthouse score 92.
We're not cherry-picking. That's a real project we migrated.
Bricks loads only what it needs. No bloat. Proper CSS. Clean code.
The workflow:
Bricks is fast to build in once you know it. The learning curve is steeper than Elementor, but once you're there, you're building sites noticeably quicker.
The visual builder actually respects code. You can inspect elements, adjust CSS in real-time, and it doesn't fight you.
Customisation:
With Bricks, you can create custom elements using PHP and JavaScript. Elementor forces you into their ecosystem.
We built custom elements for client portfolios, data visualisations, and interactive tools. In Elementor, that would have required plugins or hacky workarounds.
Who should switch?
If you're building 5+ sites a year, or sites with complex functionality, Bricks offers genuine improvements in build speed and site performance.
If you're building simple sites for local businesses, Elementor works fine.
We're now 18 months into Bricks. We've migrated 12 existing Elementor sites and built 40+ new ones. We haven't looked back.
